Intelligent Mail barcode compliance check
Validate IMb structure and encoding integrity per USPS-B-3200.
What it checks
- IMb detection and bar-integrity validation on PDF documents
- Encoding integrity: the 11-bit FCS/CRC is re-derived from the bars (reversing the USPS-B-3200 base conversion) and compared — a corrupted encode fails structurally valid-looking barcodes
- Full field decode on AFP (barcode ID, service type, mailer ID, serial, routing code) plus presort and field checks
- A document with zero detectable IMbs reports the check not-evaluable — it is not a silent pass
FAQ
What does the FCS/CRC round-trip catch?
An IMb can look structurally plausible while encoding garbage. Re-deriving the frame check sequence from the bars catches encoder bugs that visual checks miss.
Which formats can you check?
PDF and AFP/MO:DCA — the two formats transactional mail actually ships in. AFP additionally supports full field decode.
What happens to my documents?
Uploads are tenant-scoped, encrypted at rest, and anonymous uploads auto-purge within 24 hours. Result pages are token-gated and never indexed.
