Preflight (“we”, “us”) provides document quality-control software for print and mail. This policy describes what we collect, how we use it, and your choices. It is a general description, not legal advice.

What we collect

Account data — your name, email, and authentication identifiers, handled by our authentication provider (Clerk).

Documents you upload — the files you submit for analysis and the structural metadata we derive from them.

Usage & billing — checks run and plan/subscription status. Payments are processed by Stripe; we never receive or store full card numbers.

How we use it

Only to provide and secure the service — to parse and check your documents, manage your workspace and entitlements, bill your plan, and prevent abuse. We do not sell your data, and we do not use your document contents to train models or disclose them to third parties except the sub-processors below.

Document retention

Anonymous (signed-out) uploads and their stored bytes are automatically deleted within 24 hours. Workspace documents are retained per your workspace’s configured retention and are deleted on request or when you close your account.

Sub-processors

We rely on: Clerk (authentication), Stripe (payments), Fly.io (hosting), Neon (database), Tigris (file storage), Upstash (queue/cache), hCaptcha (bot protection), Anthropic (AI-assisted summaries and checks), and Resend (transactional email). Each processes data solely to perform its function for us.

What we send to Anthropic. The plain-language summary shown by the free analyzer runs on every upload, but it sends only a content-free structural projection of your document — an allow-listed set of counts and flags (page count, form-field and resource counts, detected barcode counts, and the like), never your text, images, or personal data. The optional AI-assisted compliance checks are off by default; only when you enable one do we send the specific content that feature assesses — for example, AI alt-text quality sends the rendered image region of each evaluated figure (which may contain the pictured content itself), and the brand disclosure assist sends the disclosure text. All AI signals are advisory.

Security

Data is encrypted in transit, access is tenant-scoped, and operational logs are redacted of document contents. No system is perfectly secure, but we work to protect your data.

Your choices

You can access, export, or delete your workspace data and close your account at any time — contact us to make a request.
