Tagged PDF check
Is your PDF really tagged — and do the tags match the page?
What it checks
- Tag-tree presence and the structure requirements assistive technology depends on
- Reading order: tag order correlated with on-page text geometry (a visually-backwards tag order is a real finding, not a guess)
- Alt text on figures, with render-based verification support for figure content
- An untagged document reports not-evaluated for structure-dependent criteria — the report says so instead of pretending
FAQ
What is a tagged PDF?
A PDF with a logical structure tree (headings, paragraphs, tables, figures) that screen readers and other assistive technology can navigate — the foundation of PDF/UA and WCAG conformance for documents.
My export tool says "tagged" — am I done?
Not necessarily. Auto-generated tags are frequently wrong (backwards reading order, untagged figures). Checking tags against actual page geometry is what separates a real check from reading a metadata flag.
What happens to my documents?
Uploads are tenant-scoped, encrypted at rest, and anonymous uploads auto-purge within 24 hours. Result pages are token-gated and never indexed.
