FAQ

Why must a saddle-stitched booklet be a multiple of 4?

Each folded sheet carries four pages — two on the front, two on the back. Stitching folded sheets at the spine means pages come in groups of four, so the total must divide by 4.

What if my content isn’t a multiple of 4?

Add blank pages (usually at the front matter or end) to round up to the next multiple of 4. This tool tells you exactly how many to add.

How many sheets does my booklet use?

Folded sheets = total pages ÷ 4. A 28-page booklet runs on 7 folded sheets.

Does this apply to perfect binding?

No — perfect-bound and sewn bindings gather signatures differently (often multiples of 8 or 16) and only require an even page count. Check your printer’s signature size for those.
